Monday Motivation - Just one more...

Saturday, after a 4.5 mile run, I was doing pickup repeats on a small hill. I like to play number games when I have an unpleasant training task so I gave myself and 5 intervals plus 1 since I’m going to be 51 this week. 😉

In my head I was thinking “Ug. I don’t like this.” The reason? Because it’s HARD and it hurts! So at the end of each interval I told myself “Just one more.”

Then again “just one more.” and again until I reached my goal. I’d finish breathless promising myself as I recovered back down that I could do ONE MORE.

Since I received sad news regarding a family member last week, I was also thinking how many times in our lives do we pray… “Lord, give me just one more.” One more day with family, one more step forward, one more chance after failure, one more breath in this life.

It got me to thinking how many circumstances in which we have to tell ourselves ‘just one more’ to get through hard things not just in training, but in life.

And, how grateful I am to have just one more year under my belt.

This week, and in weeks to come, remember that In whatever hard situation life throws our way– wellness, work, family, training – tell yourself “just one more”. Just one more step forward, one more breath, hold on for one more day and you will get through it.
