Monday Motivation: We have nothing to lose...and everything to gain.

Listening to a sermon Sunday morning triggered the above thought.

I won’t go into the details of the sermon but what resonated with me as I was mulling Pastor Frank’s message in my head was that; In our life journey, we have nothing to lose by our faith and in taking care of our bodies, minds, souls but we have everything to gain.

• What do you lose by getting up early, or leaving work on time, so that you can get in a workout? (Except for a few pounds, maybe). Nothing. In perspective, work doesn’t really suffer over the long haul but you do. You gain better fitness, strength, sense of well-being from relief of daily stress. • What do you lose by eating more nutritionally dense foods and less processed-sugary foods? Nothing, except for a few pounds😉. You gain better health, more energy, and less illness/risk of chronic disease. • What do you lose by starting your day with quiet time, meditation or prayer, instead of the computer and social media? NOTHING – But you gain a better sense of peace, less frustration and worry to carry through your day and pass along to others.

Most people think wellness: stress management, exercise, eating better, giving up crap-sugar-processed foods is just “too hard!”. Heart disease is hard. Diabetes is hard. Cancer is hard. Being unable to walk through the airport, or up a flight of stairs, is hard. Not seeing your kids or grand-kids graduate is hard. Choose your hard.

Because the ONLY thing you have to lose by NOT taking care of your wellness is your health. That is a pretty high price to pay and it’s darn hard to get back once you’ve lost it. If you ignore your health, you will lose it.

This week make a conscious effort to manage your well-being with exercise, healthful eating, quite meditation/prayer time and sound sleep!
